The DrifterThe Drifter by Nicholas Petrie

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Author Nicholas Petrie gives readers a fast-paced thriller with his first published novel about a Marine Corps. veteran, one large and smelly dog and a nefarious plot.

Peter Ash has returned home from eight tours in Iraq and Afghanistan with PTSD, what he calls “white static” which prevents him from being inside.

He spent his first year out of the service camping in the Pacific Northwest, trying to overcome his overwhelming claustrophobia when a good friend from the Marines commits suicide.

Peter misses friend James Johnson’s funeral and decides to make repairs to his widow’s house. This is how Peter learns important details and that he needs to investigate Jimmy’s death.
